Life-Changing Teachings of Richard
Rohr, OFM

This introductory set contains the following rich sample
of Fr. Richard's teachings:
The Bias from the Bottom
This tape
represents one-half of the foundational vision of the Center for Action
and Contemplation. The biblical vision consistently teaches
that the truth is more likely found at the edges and the bottom of
society, while institutional theology has largely been written by people
at the top and the center. Fr. Richard explains how this change in
perspective has distorted our hearing of the Scriptures and our
understanding of what Jesus is saying at every turn in Christian history.
Contemplative Prayer
This is the
companion tape to "Bias from the Bottom" and represents the
other half of the foundational vision of the Center for Action
and Contemplation. One cannot really look at life and society
from an ego-less position except through the lens of prayer, particularly
the emptying form of prayer that we call contemplation. Fr. Richard
gives an overview of both the theory and practice of what he calls
"the contemplative stance" toward life.
Having a Beginner's Mind
Fr. Richard
suggests that a "beginner's mind" is crucial for correct
understanding of religion. Ignorance does not result from what we don't
know but from what we think we do know. Great spiritual
teachers balance knowing with not knowing - and know that they don't
know. Being willing not to know, because God knows, is called
"faith".
Masculine Spirituality
Why do men
struggle so often with the spiritual? Many flat out reject the inner
journey, mistaking it for being soft or weak. The need for real
masculine spirituality, one that speaks to man's core, is the subject of
this tape with Richard Rohr, OFM.
